Director, Brenda Strafford Centre for Excellence in Gerontological Nursing University of Calgary
Sandra started her career as a staff nurse and a team leader in hospitals in Toronto and Ottawa, but it wasn’t long before she found her true calling in academics.
Her long and accomplished career at the University of Calgary has been hugely beneficial for gerontological nursing care in Canada, leading to several advances that contribute to the well-being of older adults.
Sandra has served two terms on the Seniors Advisory Council for Alberta and, in 2007, was appointed by the prime minister to the National Seniors Council. She is now the director of the Brenda Strafford Centre for Excellence in Gerontological Nursing.
